Moving along into 2006 we've now gone through 2 college graduations, a ton of eye shadow and It’s
the lips! lip gloss as well as lots of eye shadow brushes. Oh Baby Cosmetics continues selling to more Colleges and Universities and has been picked up by boutiques and salons!!! Our makeup, consisting of powdered eye shadow, lip glosses and brushes have been in fashion magazines, cosmetic reviews and even had a spot on TV!
We continue to expand our on-line business, both retail and wholesale, as well as increase our placement at Colleges, Universities, boutiques and salons.
We are constantly coming out with new eye shadow colors and love to hear the wonderful feedback from our customers. |
It's all history ...
Spring 2001 --
Okay, so there was this
really cute mother’s day card stuck on the refrigerator.
The card, from Meghan and Liza to ‘MOM’,
had a great picture of a baby with a round open mouth
(OOOOH!).
Always wanting to start some kind of business …
!! Oh baby! what a great name for a cosmetic company.
Sarah borrowed ‘the baby next door’ for
a photo shoot.
Voila! a small box with a baby’s face on
the lid was born.
Our stylin baby’s name is ‘Chad’…
Coincidently our best selling eye shadow color! |

This was the start of her clever concept of connecting
with her daughters and their friends to create and develop
eye shadows in awesome colors they would love to wear
and recommend to their friends. We hit the college market
and this was just the beginning of “Oh
Baby! Cosmetics”.

Not just another cosmetic company to add to the list
of powerful and not-so-powerful competitors. Sarah connected
with her daughters, Meghan as sales manager and Liza
as marketing manager, who in turn connected with their
friends to spread the word (and plenty of samples!)
about Oh Baby! Cosmetics to college campuses around
the country. These make-up mavens, who have a flair
for ‘must have’ colors, are directly involved
with approving formulas and selecting and naming product
colors. How exciting is it to name a color and have
‘your’ color worn by thousands of girls
out there partying!
Meghan (now 23), an economics major, graduated June
'02 from Union College and Liza (now 20), an international
business major, is a junior at Georgetown University.
They are having a great time helping this company to
grow and have enlisted input from many of their hip
friends. They all figured it out early on that Oh Baby!
make-up is fun and really creative… you become
your own make-up artist.
Working with Meghan, Liza and their friends in connecting
with new students across the country has proven to be
a valuable asset to the company. Not only has their
affiliation with the company helped in spreading the
word about Oh Baby! Cosmetics but has revealed a source
of tremendously talented young people. At California
Polytechnic State University, Oh Baby! Cosmetics was
used as a case study in a class for business school
students. From this connection Sean Genovese (our first
guy!), a business student at Cal Poly, did more work
on refining the web site. Katie Hilgemann, a student
at Oregon State, had a summer internship with KATU (an
ABC affiliate) television station in Portland, Oregon.
In September 2002, she was able to secure airtime for
a segment on Oh Baby! Cosmetics. Mara Ritti, a journalism
major at California Chico State, helped work on the
press release that landed us a spot next to Britney
Spears in the January 2004 issue of YM (featured color
is ‘Chad’ ..
of course). Mara’s friend Jill Zuckerberg (also
a student at Chico) was also very instrumental in getting
us placement into our first upscale retail location
in Chico, CA. Laura Stenovec, a student at the University
of Denver and past president of her Tri Delta chapter,
has been working at getting us exposure with the Delta
Delta Delta Sorority on a national level(see our fab
midnight blue ‘delta’
shine eye shadow). Laura also was very involved in placing
Oh Baby! Cosmetics in many schools across the country.
Bottom line is that all of these students are learning
in different ways what it is to get a company going.
They are connecting with their friends and the enthusiasm
they create is truly contagious. We know we have great
products and packaging but what makes us different (and
really with-it) is the backbone of this company is comprised
of college students or recent graduates connecting with
their friends. They feel that sense of pride and ownership
when new products come to market and are "a
must have".
For Sarah, Meghan, Liza and all of those involved,
the thrill of a lifetime is when someone says, “Oh
Baby! …wouldn’t party without it!”…
thanks to you all for these great connection!!!
